Yamaha Motor establishes new eBike company in Germany after acquiring Brose’s eBike division

Yamaha Motor is accelerating its shift toward electric mobility with the creation of a new company, Yamaha Motor eBike Systems, following the acquisition of the eBike drive unit business from Brose. The newly established firm will be headquartered in Germany and is expected to begin operations after the deal is finalized by June 2025.

This strategic move marks a significant step for Yamaha in expanding its presence in the growing electric bicycle market. By integrating Brose’s eKit technology, Yamaha aims to leverage advanced development capabilities to better meet the specific demands of European consumers.

The new company will work closely with Yamaha Motor Europe, focusing on the development, production, and sales of eBike drive units and components. The acquisition aligns with Yamaha Motor’s Mid-Term Management Plan (2025–2027), which places strong emphasis on the electrification of its product lineup.

While Yamaha has long been a global player in motorcycles and powersports, this latest investment signals a clear intent to diversify its mobility portfolio and gain a competitive edge in the rapidly evolving eBike sector.
