Lieven Vanlommel Leads Foodmaker Through Record Growth in Germany and Beyond

Foodmaker, the British company specializing in healthy meals — with centralized kitchens based in Flanders — is experiencing a remarkable surge in sales under the leadership of CEO Lieven Vanlommel. Following the launch of its ready-to-eat healthy meals across all 3,800 Rewe supermarkets in Germany last month, the company has seen its quarterly revenue jump by an impressive 41%.

After achieving a 20% increase in sales last year, Foodmaker’s momentum has accelerated significantly in 2025. Germany, now the company’s largest market ahead of France, Belgium, and the Netherlands, has been pivotal to this rapid expansion. “Since the beginning of the year, we have recorded a 390% growth in Germany”, the CEO told Belgian newspaper “La Libre, highlighting the limited competition in the German healthy food sector.

Foodmaker’s growth isn’t confined to Germany. Sales have climbed 31% at Belgian retailer Delhaize and soared 80% at French chain Franprix. The brand is also available at Monoprix in France and Albert Heijn in the Netherlands, strengthening its footprint across Western Europe.

The booming retail business has temporarily shifted the company’s focus away from opening new restaurants. In 2024, Foodmaker opened just ten new locations — nine of them in Belgium. This year, five more are planned, including the company’s first restaurant in Germany. Currently, Foodmaker operates 21 company-owned restaurants in Belgium, two in Paris, and two in the Netherlands. To further accelerate its growth, Lieven Vanlommel is seeking franchise partners in each country.

With demand at an all-time high, Foodmaker is preparing to double its production capacity. At its central kitchen in Westerlo, Belgium, 300 employees already produce 100,000 healthy meals daily, with current facilities capable of handling up to 200,000 meals. Plans are in motion to expand: Foodmaker will soon apply for approval to construct an additional building, expected to be operational by 2027.
