Prometeon Tyre Group: Leadership in the Global Industrial Tire Market

Prometeon Tyre Group specializes in the production of tires for industrial sectors, including transportation of goods and people, agricultural machinery, and off-the-road (OTR) vehicles used in quarries and construction sites. Among the key players in the market, it is the only global manufacturer fully dedicated to these segments. The Group is led by Roberto Righi, a highly experienced manager who has held roles of increasing responsibility in prestigious companies such as Ducati and Pirelli. It is within the latter group that he spent most of his career, serving as Executive Vice President of Commercial Replacement EMEA and Business Moto until the end of 2019.

Founded in 2017 following the spin-off of the industrial division of Pirelli Tyre (in which it holds no stake), Prometeon has since embarked on an independent path, strengthening its position as a tire manufacturer, from design and production to the sale of new products. Prometeon operates in 160 countries, thanks to its extensive commercial network. The group is currently 90% owned by China National Tire & Rubber Corporation (CNRC), part of the Sinochem conglomerate, while the remaining 10% is held by the Chinese tire manufacturer Aeolus. Headquartered in Milan, Prometeon operates four production facilities located in Egypt, Turkey, and Brazil.

The Brazilian factories are among the oldest: the Santa André plant, inaugurated in 1941, and the Gravataí plant, operational since 1974, where the first Pirelli truck tires began production in 1978. The Izmit plant in Turkey, founded in 1960, employs around 2,000 people and has an annual production capacity of 1.85 million tires, more than 50% of which are exported to 87 countries. In 2024, the Alexandria plant in Egypt celebrated its 30th anniversary. Covering an area of 300,000 square meters and employing over 2,000 people, the factory has produced nearly 20 million tires since 1994.

The Prometeon Group employs approximately 8,000 people, with a strong multicultural component represented by 36 nationalities. Furthermore, 50% of the workforce consists of millennials, aged between 28 and 43 years, while 83% of the employees are blue-collar workers. In 2023, Prometeon achieved revenues of 1.3 billion euros, further consolidating its leadership position in the global industrial tire market. With the ambition to reach 2 billion euros by 2030, the Group aims to strengthen its financial stability in an intensely competitive sector. As part of its growth strategy, Prometeon plans to enhance its industrial footprint, with targeted investments across all its manufacturing sites to increase the efficiency and flexibility of its production lines.
