Uber strengthens B2B strategy with 2.3 billion dollars acquisition of ezCater

Uber has announced a definitive agreement to acquire ezCater, a leading U.S. workplace catering and food tech platform, in an all-cash transaction valued at 2.3 billion dollars. Announced on October 6, 2026, the strategic acquisition is designed to expand Uber’s presence in the lucrative business-to-business (B2B) catering market, combining ezCater’s specialized infrastructure with Uber Eats and Uber for Business.

The acquisition targets the growing demand for corporate food management, ranging from daily employee meal programs to recurring meetings and large-scale corporate events. Unlike standard consumer food delivery, workplace catering involves significantly larger transactions, with ezCater’s average order value exceeding 400 dollars. In the twelve months prior to the announcement, ezCater generated over 2.5 billion dollars in Gross Bookings while maintaining positive non-GAAP operating results.

EzCater currently connects organizations with a network of over 140,000 restaurants across the United States. Its platform provides enterprise-grade tools, a 24/7 customer support system, and specialized administrative features tailored to corporate accounts.

By integrating ezCater into its global network, Uber aims to scale these operations internationally and introduce the service to millions of new users. For restaurant partners, the merger opens up reliable access to high-volume commercial orders that serve as a valuable revenue stream alongside individual delivery requests. Meanwhile, delivery couriers stand to benefit from increased earning opportunities driven by larger and more complex commercial drop-offs.

Dara Khosrowshahi, CEO of Uber, emphasized the potential of the deal, noting that catering represents a massive market that can drive sustainable growth for restaurants. Nihad Rahman, CEO of ezCater, echoed this sentiment, highlighting that joining forces with Uber will allow the platform to scale its workplace food solutions to a broader global audience.

The integration focuses on four core pillars: scaling catering access to a wider consumer and business base, strengthening corporate offerings through Uber for Business, expanding revenue channels for restaurants, and creating new opportunities for delivery drivers.

Pending regulatory approvals and customary closing conditions, the transaction is expected to close in the coming months. With this multi-billion-dollar investment, Uber is positioning itself to capture a dominant share of the workplace food and corporate catering ecosystem, bridging consumer delivery logistics with complex commercial demands.
