For over seven decades, Midolini Group has been synonymous with excellence in crane operations, tracing its roots back to a humble family enterprise in the province of Udine. What began as a passion swiftly evolved into a profession, as the Midolini family embarked on a journey marked by dedication, innovation, and community spirit.
From its inception, the Group has been at the forefront of lifting solutions, offering a comprehensive range of services including crane rentals, turnkey lifting operations, feasibility studies, and design services. Over the years, the company diversified its portfolio to encompass exceptional transport services, further solidifying its position as an industry leader.
A significant turning point in Midolini’s history came in 1996 with the liberalization of port labour in Italy. Seizing the opportunity, the group expanded its operations to San Giorgio di Nogaro, Udine, establishing a state-of-the-art industrial facility to cater to the burgeoning demand for cargo storage.
In line with its commitment to growth and innovation, Midolini recently inaugurated a new branch in Marghera, Venice, signalling its intent to broaden its geographical footprint and enhance its service offerings across Italy. Despite embracing new partners, the company remains firmly rooted in family values, with siblings Mirva and Sandro Midolini at the helm, supported by the third generation represented by CEO Giacomo Pittini.
Reflecting on the company’s journey, the CEO emphasizes the pivotal role of individuals in shaping the company’s success. He acknowledges the dedication of long-serving employees, whose unwavering commitment has been instrumental in driving the group’s positive trajectory.
The company’s community-centric approach was exemplified in its response to the devastating Friuli earthquake of 1976. Leveraging its resources, it played a crucial role in the region’s recovery efforts, with founder Umberto Midolini actively involved in debris clearance and housing restoration.
Today, Midolini Group operates across three key sectors through its subsidiaries: Tech2lift specializes in exceptional lifting and transport, Midsea oversees maritime operations, and Midway focuses on logistics. With terminals in Trieste, Monfalcone, and San Giorgio di Nogaro, Midsea handles over three million tons annually, while Midway provides end-to-end logistics solutions for key clients.
Looking ahead, explained Giacomo Pittini, Midolini is poised for continued growth and expansion, with recent acquisitions in maritime operations underscoring its strategic vision. The company’s projected revenue for 2024 exceeds €55 million, reflecting its unwavering commitment to delivering value to its clients and stakeholders.
The entry of new partners, notably SmartVsl, marks a significant milestone for the company, as it seeks to leverage additional expertise and drive further growth. The positive rapport and daily engagement with SmartVsl highlight the synergistic relationship between the two entities, enriching Midolini’s strategic vision while maintaining the family-led governance structure.
